Support for Humpty Shines Despite the Rain
An estimated 5,500 Sydneysiders put on their running shoes and got out their umbrellas for the annual Humpty Dumpty Balmoral Burn on Sunday 2 Sunday - the wettest day in its 13 year history - with a figure of over two million raised over the weekend to buy life-saving medical equipment for children's hospitals and health services across Australia.
The fundraising commenced on Friday 31 May at the invitation only Sponsors' Dinner through to Race Day on Sunday.
Despite the torrential rain the unstoppable spirit of the community shone through - it was an incredible result to have thousands of people brave the wind and the rain to support more than 200 children's hospitals and paediatric wards across Australia.
This years event attracted 52 corporate teams, a record of 102 senior school teams all whom took part on one of Sydney's wettest days!
Raising money to purchase medical equipment that treats and saves the lives of Aussie kids, the Balmoral Burn is in its 13th year. Created by Wallaby great, Phil Kearns, the Balmoral Burn is not just for the elite, entrants can run, walk or crawl up the steep 420 metre stretch of Awaba Street.
